Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound fresh green beans
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 4–5 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 cup chicken or vegetable broth (optional)
- 1–2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (optional garnish)
Instructions
- Wash the green beans thoroughly and trim the stem ends. Blanch in boiling salted water for 2-3 minutes and then plunge into an ice bath. Drain well.
- Peel and finely mince the garlic.
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat and melt the butter until it shimmers.
- Add the minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds to 1 minute until fragrant and lightly golden.
- Add the green beans and toss gently to coat in the garlic butter.
- Season with salt and pepper, then sauté blanched beans for 3-5 minutes or unblanched for 8-12 minutes until desired tenderness is reached.
- If needed, add broth to steam and cook for an additional 3-5 minutes. Remove lid and cook an additional minute to evaporate liquid.
