- 1 lb sirloin or ribeye beef, sliced into strips
- 4 tablespoons soy sauce, divided
- 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon freshly grated ginger
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 3 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Colorful bell peppers, sliced (optional)
Instructions
- In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, ginger, garlic, and sesame oil. Marinate the beef strips in this mixture for about 10-15 minutes.
- In a skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and sauté for 5-7 minutes until soft and caramelized. Remove and set aside.
- Increase the pan heat to high, add 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil, and sear the marinated beef strips for 2-3 minutes until browned and cooked through.
- In a bowl, whisk together 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, and cornstarch. Pour this sauce over the cooked beef and let simmer for 2-3 minutes until thickened.
- Add the sautéed onions back into the skillet, stirring to coat everything in the sauce. Serve hot over rice or noodles.
Notes
For added flavor, consider serving with fresh garden salad or steamed vegetables.
