Description

A comforting slow cooker soup that captures the flavors of traditional cabbage rolls without the hassle of wrapping and frying.


Ingredients

  • 1 large head of cabbage, chopped
  • 1 pound ground beef or turkey
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
  • 4 cups beef or vegetable broth
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a slow cooker, combine the chopped cabbage, ground meat, onion, and garlic.
  2. Add the tomato sauce, broth, diced tomatoes, Worcestershire sauce, and oregano.
  3. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Stir well to combine all the ingredients.
  5. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours, until the cabbage and meat are tender.

Notes

For a brothier soup, add more broth. To thicken, reduce broth or add a cornstarch slurry near the end of cooking.
