Description
This slow cooker peach butter is easy, fragrant, and naturally sweetened with your choice of sugar, honey, or spices. A smooth, spreadable preserve perfect for toast or gifting.
Ingredients
Scale
- 6–8 cups peeled, pitted, and chopped fresh peaches
- 1 to 1½ cups granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon (optional)
- ½ tsp vanilla extract or almond extract (optional)
Optional Add-ins:
- Nutmeg, cardamom, ginger
- Maple syrup or honey for sweetness alternatives
Instructions
- Prepare the peaches: Peel, pit, and chop the peaches into small chunks. Blanching can help loosen the skins.
- Combine in slow cooker: Add peaches, sugar, lemon juice, and cinnamon to the slow cooker. Stir to mix evenly.
- Cook on low: Set to LOW for 6–8 hours or HIGH for 4–5 hours. Keep the lid slightly ajar to allow steam to escape and the mixture to reduce.
- Blend until smooth: Use an immersion blender directly in the pot or transfer in batches to a food processor or blender until smooth.
- Thicken (if needed): If the texture is still thin, continue cooking uncovered while stirring frequently until thick and spreadable.
- Store or can: Pour into sterilized jars. Refrigerate for 2–3 weeks, freeze up to 6 months, or water-bath can according to safe preservation guidelines.
Notes
For deeper flavor, try adding a touch of nutmeg or ginger. Sweeteners and spices can be adjusted at the end to taste. Use ripe, fragrant peaches for best results.
