Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 3 tablespoons sugar for topping
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a loaf pan.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
  3. In a separate bowl, cream the sugar and butter until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with buttermilk until just combined.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top gently.
  7. Mix together the sugar and cinnamon for the topping and sprinkle over the batter.
  8. Bake for 50 to 60 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
