- ¼ cup (60ml) fresh orange juice
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 2 tablespoons fancy molasses
- 2 cups (240g) powdered sugar, sifted (for optional glaze)
- 3–4 tablespoons fresh orange juice (for glaze)
- ½ teaspoon fresh orange zest (for glaze)
Instructions
- Gather your ingredients, ensuring the butter and eggs are at room temperature.
- Zest the oranges, focusing on the bright orange part.
- Cream the butter and sugar in a large mixing bowl until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, then honey, molasses, and orange zest, mixing until combined.
- Whisk dry ingredients in a separate bowl, then gradually mix them into the wet ingredients until just combined.
- Add fresh orange juice and mix until incorporated.
- Chill the dough for at least 2 hours or overnight.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and prepare baking sheets.
- Roll out the dough and cut into desired shapes.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes until edges are lightly golden.
- Allow cookies to cool before glazing with optional orange glaze.
- Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3-5 days.
