Description

Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (for frosting)
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for frosting)
  • 2 tablespoons milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Sift together flour, baking soda, and baking powder in a mixing bowl.
  3. Cream together softened butter and sugar in a separate large bowl until smooth and creamy.
  4. Add in the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until fully combined.
  5. Gradually incorporate the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, being careful not to overmix.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.
  7. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes until edges are lightly golden.
  8. Allow to cool in the pan for 10 to 15 minutes.
  9. For the frosting, beat together the butter, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk until smooth and creamy.
  10. Spread frosting over cooled cookie bars, cut into squares, and serve.
