- 1 teaspoon baking powder

- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar

- 1/2 cup butter for buttercream
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 tablespoon milk

Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until just combined.
- Spread the dough evenly into the prepared baking pan.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until lightly golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let the bars cool, then prepare the buttercream frosting by beating the softened butter until smooth, then gradually add powdered sugar and milk.
- Spread the buttercream over the cooled bars and sprinkle with optional sprinkles.
- Cut into squares and serve.
Notes
For richer flavor, consider browning the butter before adding it to the sugar. Use room temperature ingredients for a smoother batter.
