- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- Vegetable oil, for frying
- Powdered sugar, for dusting
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, salt, and ground cinnamon. Whisk until well blended.
- In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs lightly, then add the milk and vanilla extract, mixing until combined.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and gently fold together until just incorporated.
- Add the melted butter and fold it in gently.
- Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a towel and let the dough rest for about 30 minutes.
- Heat vegetable oil in a pot over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- Drop spoonfuls of dough into the hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- Remove beignets with a slotted spoon and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
- Dust the warm beignets with powdered sugar before serving.
- Serve immediately with dipping sauces, if desired.
Notes
Don’t rush the resting time for the dough to achieve the best texture. Maintain oil temperature while frying for optimal results.
